I paid S$30 for this steak and it turned out to be freaking salty. I cut a piece and let the chef ate it. Guess what? He became defensive and blamed the supplier for the saltiness. I swear I will never spend a cent there anymore let alone recommend people to eat there. Horrible steak and poor service recovery on the part of the staff.

Please post the below email on your blog, so people could be aware of OG:

I was at Orchard OG today (25th Oct 2011) at around 11am, together with my mother and my baby who was in the baby pram.

There was a small flight of stairs on the 1st level which the pram couldn't go up. I approached the cashier if we could use the handicap lift which is just beside the cashier counter. The cashier turned me down flatly and said it is only meant for handicap users and asked me to use the lift which is outside of the OG building. I tried asking her again if she could be nice enough to assist us, but she turned me down again.

A nice cosmetic salesgirl approached me, and offered to ask the security guard to assist me in carrying the pram up those few steps. When the security guard came, he commanded us to use the lift outside of the building. He did not even bother to help.

We are totally shock & disappointed how rude your staff were. Orchard OG is definitely not a babies' friendly place to visit- which I will definitely notify my friends about. This matter should also be mentioned in forums to make mothers, like me, be aware of such service.

Filthy Bakut Teh cook in Ang Moh Kio

I used to frequent a hawker stall in Ang Moh Kio selling bakut teh or pork ribs and soup. This stall also sell pork knuckles. All the time I was unaware of how dirty the food was until a few days ago when I saw the cook blowing his nose and some of his mucus dripped into the bakut soup. Sometime he would sneeze into the food he was cooking. Yucks! I told my friend and we stopped going there since.
For info the picture above was taken from the internet and not the one from the stall.
The venue is block 400+ ( I can't give the exact address due to legal issue),Ang Moh Kio street 3.

New Sengkang market/hawker center

I have received a complaint regarding the above:

Hi! I was so frustrated with the car park system at the above center. My cash card which is being used all over S'pore for parking as well as erp is not valid for the above car park.
I was asked to buy a Kopitiam cash card to use as an entry to the car park. Why can't the authorities look into the matter so as not to inconvenience the motoring public?

Beware of this acupuncturist

BT, I want you to warn your readers of this female acupuncturist. I was treated by needle acupuncture in my legs due to numbness. The first time I told her it was not effective as my legs were still numb after the first treatment. So the second time she inserted bigger needles into my legs. It was a very painful procedure and a day later my legs swelled and they were more painful.

I was told by my doctor to stop consulting the female acupuncturist who happened to practise from her Jurong HDB flat.

I got her address online in which she claimed she was one of the top acupuncturists graduated from a university in China.

Unreliable and dishonest car dealer

Jane ordered an American car and paid a deposit on the first week of Feb 2009 on the promise that the car of her choice and color would be delivered to her end of Feb 09.
The shocker came today when the dealer told her the car would only be available end April....a whopping 2 months delay!
How on earth can a business concern,a big authorised dealer lied to its customer. Where is the business ethics? Before paying the deposit, the promise was end Feb but now it turns out to be end April.
If you people want to buy or transact any business here please make the company or companies concerned commit in writing. Don't ever trust their word because they will go back on it!

She is pissed off with Gucci,Paragon S'pore

an avid reader of your blog at bohtong.org. Below is an email of my personal encounter at Gucci's store. This is what I've written in to ST forum. However, just in case it's left unpublished, thought it'd send it in to you to publish on your blog. If not, it would be such a waste, don't you think? Cheers!------------

I had recently stepped into the Gucci boutique store at Paragon, 26th of December 2008, to make enquiries about the repair of their products. Over christmas, I have recieved a wallet from Gucci as a gift but it was a pity there was a tiny defect in the leather lining on the wallet. One of the clauses at the back of the proof of purchase/receipt stated that 'Defective spare parts and lining will be repaired at no charge within 1 year of purchase of merchandise provided appropriate proof of purchase is presented.' With that, I naturally assume that repair should be regardless of the material or the extent of damage.

Since the item was purchased at the store in Paragon, I returned there to see what could be done. I approached one of the staff who had her back leaned against one of the glass display, not attending to any customer despite the store being packed with clients. She is a non-local trainee store assistant.

When I took out my product to ask if it could be repaired, as well as point out to her where the defect was, she laughed and asked me back in an incredulous tone if I wanted to have the wallet repaired. I can't help but say her tone was a more than a little condescending.
It makes me wonder, as a customer, is it up to the store assistants to decide what kind of enquiries deserves to be entertained?

After she made the remark, she disappeared to the back store with my wallet without informing me, only to emerge 5 minutes later to tell me that she has spoken to her manager and nothing could be done. She handed me the wallet and left it at that.

Had this been the only Gucci store I stepped into, the difference customer service would not have been stark. Prior to approaching the store at Paragon, I had gone to the one in Takashimaya in hope that the queue to enter the Gucci store would be shorter. Though it was not, I apporached the security who kindly helped me to get the attention of a store assistant. The service I recieved at the store in Takashimaya was definitely much better. The assistant not only listened to my enquries, replied my questions in a polite manner, he also went out of the way to make a phone call for me to Paragon's store. In addition, he provided an explanation as to why I couldn't do an exchange since the item was purchased in Paragon. Also, when he handed me back my wallet, he made sure he packed my item back into the box before returning it to me.

None of the above service was provided by the staff in Paragon. Perhaps it was a mistake on my part to approach a trainee staff? It makes me wonder, does Gucci, an international brand name, have any expectations or standards for its staff? Or is it that during holiday season, with the sale and the crowd, they allow their expectations to slacken?

Ultimately, I don't think I received a satisfactory answer for my enquiries. Why is my request for repair denied when there is suppose to be a repair guarantee for the goods?

I do not know what kind of values Gucci instill in its staff. However, if they feel that only customers decked out in branded goods from head to toe is worthy of their attention and service, then I have to say, probably more than half the customers would have to self-service in the store. In these times, some brands have already lost their exclusivity but certain people fail to realise it.

China waitress

I was at a eatery and decided to order apple juice. Being a non Chinese,I do not speak Mandarin. The waitress who served me happened to be from China. She kept "barking" in Mandaring to me when I asked for apple juice. Obviously she does not understand English. She was irritated because I can't communicate in Mandarin. She from her tone of voice and body language was absolutely rude.
The question here is whether we should employ a foreign waitress or for that matter a service provider who can't communicate in English?

Unreliable car/vehicle dealer in Toa Payoh

Got this from a reader who bought a vehicle from a dealer in Toa Payoh.

" Before I paid for my van,the saleman kept calling me like 2 to 3 times a day. I was even offered free transport to Toa Payoh where the car dealer office is. The day came when I paid for my van with the assurance of that I would have the van delivered "at the most 10 days" later. Almost a month has passed and I am still without my van" As a result of the delay, I have lost considerable amount of business and opportunities. My business is transportation of goods and house moving and it is imperative that I get my van in time for the X"Mas and New Year season."

There was a time when I wanted to rent a property form SLA. They advertised it on their website. I called the officer up and was told I could view the property. Five days later, I was still unable to see the property. They kept procrastinating give all sorts of fucking excuses ranging from being sick to being fucking busy all the time.
Singapore civil service is equal to that of a third world country or worst. In a 3rd world country the civil servants have a lot of "incentives" to work and produce results whereas in Singapore the civil servants consider their jobs as iron rice bowls whether they work hard or not.
Wake up Singapore or else you will be left behind!!!!!

Rude and lazy bank staff.

Two months back I opened an account with a bank in S'pore.The staff who handled my case was rude and unhelpful. When I asked one staff why she took so long to get her manager for me,she replied with rudeness in her tone of voice and negative body language," I told you to wait didn't I"? Another was unhelpful and tried to "push" me off by telling me to read the instructions in a booklet he gave me and not asked many questions.
What type of service was that,coming from a big local bank?
